Hello and welcome to Daniel R. Hanawalt Fine Art. Here you will find a current selection of my drawings and paintings, many of which are available for sale.
As an artist, I strive to follow the tenets of Classical Realism, being primarily enamored to representational art. The goal of Classical Realism (as it pertains to me) is to portray the subject, be it portrait, figure, still life, or landscape, in a realistic and idealistic fashion, focusing on the inherent beauty found in all of God's creation.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2002, I have come to discover that there is a greater degree of learning and discipline required to pursue the techniques of the Masters than is currently taught in the art colleges of America. Although studying independently, I have adopted the practice methods (as much as my free time will allow) to that of the atelier tradition. I believe this tradition is the key to personal development and growth as an artist. Hopefully the progression of work shown here will prove this to be true.
I currently live with my wife in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and am a member of the Greater Norristown Art League and the North Penn Art Alliance. In the last year and a half, I've been busy building a body of work and will continue to exhibit as I progress.

I like that. Did you paint it recently?
Thanks! Yeah, I just finished it last night. The photo is a little too bright and a lot of the nuance in the background is lost because of it... Oil paintings always look ten times better in person.
